Laser Cutting and Engraving
Hey Sweet Peach is a design, laser cutting and engraving studio based in Happy Valley, South Australia.
I work with businesses, event professionals, makers and individuals on custom acrylic and timber signage, laser-cut logos and lettering, display pieces, engraved products and one-off creative projects.
How to prepare your laser file
For the cleanest and fastest production, please supply a vector file at finished size in SVG, DXF, AI, EPS or vector PDF format. Convert all text to outlines and remove duplicate lines.
Cut lines
RED stroke, 0.001pt, no fill = CUT. Use a hairline red vector outline everywhere the laser needs to cut completely through the material.
Score lines
BLUE stroke, 0.001pt, no fill = SCORE. Scoring creates a fine surface line without cutting through. It is the fastest laser process and is useful for fine details, guides and simple line artwork.
Engraving
BLACK fill = ENGRAVE. Any solid black filled vector area is treated as engraving. Engraving works by rastering across the filled area, so it is substantially slower than scoring or cutting. Large filled areas and detailed engraving may attract additional machine-time charges.
As a guide: scoring is fastest, cutting is in between, and filled engraving is the slowest process.
Before sending your file
- Set artwork to the finished size you want.
- Use red 0.001pt strokes for cuts.
- Use blue 0.001pt strokes for scores.
- Use solid black fills for engraving.
- Convert fonts to outlines/paths.
- Remove duplicate or overlapping cut lines.
- Make sure cut shapes are closed paths.
- Keep separate pieces nested within the material area you are purchasing.
If your artwork is not production ready, I can quote separately for file preparation, tracing or design work.
Cutting, scoring & engraving
Trade laser work can include any combination of cutting, scoring and engraving. Acrylic is ideal for signage, lettering, logos, blanks and display pieces. 3mm birch plywood is ideal for engraved keepsakes, signage, plaques and products such as personalised height charts, where engraved measurements and wording can be combined with cut shapes and details.
Materials
3mm Cast Acrylic: a wide range of colours, mirror and specialty finishes is available.
3mm Birch Plywood: our standard timber option. It has a light, smooth face that cuts and engraves cleanly and works well for height charts, plaques, signs, keepsakes and trade blanks. Natural grain, colour and engraving tone will vary slightly between sheets.
Business & venue signage
Need a logo sign for a salon, studio, office, café, restaurant, market stall or venue? Your branding can be recreated in laser-cut acrylic, layered signage or smaller counter and table pieces.
Trade laser cutting
If you already have a production-ready vector file, you can order cutting, scoring and engraving online without waiting for a custom quote. Choose the maximum material area your file fits within, select 3mm acrylic or 3mm birch plywood, and send through your file after ordering.
